this course is placed under the second level of the NC Career Cluster pathway for Early Childhood Development & Services emphasizing:
responsibility in parenthood as well as guides for care during the prenatal period, infancy, and early childhood;
a thorough study of children’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development will be discussed in various stages;
special topics include child abuse, childcare options, communicating with children, importance of play, and food and nutrition;
completion of real care baby and empathy belly simulations that provide real-like experiences of parenting;
with an understanding of growth and guidance of children, the student is prepared for future parental roles, employment in child care industry and/or continue with education in the area of child development.
